Le test Keertek a permis de r\u00e9tablir la capacit\u00e9 de d\u00e9bit et l'efficacit\u00e9 du transfert thermique \u00e0 des niveaux proches de ceux d'origine.<br>L'entartrage d\u00fb \u00e0 l'eau de mer et l'encrassement biologique avaient r\u00e9duit le rendement thermique de l'\u00e9changeur d'environ 35%, obligeant l'exploitant du navire \u00e0 recourir \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me de refroidissement auxiliaire, ce qui entra\u00eenait une augmentation des co\u00fbts de carburant. Le laboratoire de Keertek a utilis\u00e9 la cavitation ultrasonique \u00e0 haute puissance associ\u00e9e \u00e0 un produit chimique de d\u00e9tartrage l\u00e9g\u00e8rement acide \u2014 suffisamment agressif pour dissoudre les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts de calcium et de magn\u00e9sium, tout en restant sans danger pour les plaques en acier inoxydable.<br>Au terme d'un cycle de 30 minutes, tous les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts de tartre avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9limin\u00e9s des canaux \u00e9troits des plaques.
